Strategy for operators, written by operators.

Growth strategy, M&A support, investor-grade business plans, and board-ready decks — engineered for agri enterprises and the investors backing them.

Strategic consulting gets a bad name in agriculture because it so often arrives as a 120-page deck written by someone who has never signed a dealer agreement, never walked a factory line, never watched a crop fail on the wrong side of a monsoon. The artefact is elegant. The judgment calls are wrong. The recommendations end up in a shared drive and the real decisions still sit with the founder at 2am.

AgPro's strategic practice is built to replace that failure mode. Our partners come from B.Tech Agricultural Engineering backgrounds plus 28+ years inside multinational agribusinesses — they have stood in the same seat as the client, made the same calls under the same constraints, and occasionally made the same mistakes. When we write strategy, it is the kind of strategy we would have paid for when we were the operator. Specific, priced, sequenced for a calendar a real team can keep.

Every engagement is scoped around a named outcome — "decide whether to build or buy our Indian distribution", "close the Series B with an investor pack that survives diligence", "build a five-year roadmap the board will actually approve" — and priced against that outcome, not the hours we work. If the outcome needs three weeks, the scope runs three weeks. If it needs a year, the scope names the year.

What we deliver

Five shapes of engagement.

Growth strategy
Multi-year growth plan covering products, geographies, channels, and capability build. Market sizes grounded in state-level data, options scored for cash, time-to-revenue, and risk. Output: board-approvable plan with a funded 12-month quarter-by-quarter roadmap.
Business plan + financial model
Operator-grade 5-year P&L, cash flow, and working-capital model. Defensible assumptions documented. Scenarios for base / upside / downside. Deliverables sit inside spreadsheets your own finance team can own, not locked consultant artefacts.
Investment thesis + decks
Series A / B / late-stage fundraise decks and data rooms that survive investor diligence. Thesis frame, unit economics, market maps, competitive positioning, and the questions the investor will ask before they ask them.
M&A commercial advisory
Target screening, commercial due diligence, synergy models, and integration playbooks — on the buy-side or sell-side. Close partnership with our Due Diligence & TEV practice when project appraisal is required.
Board / investor-briefing set
Quarterly board packs, investor updates, and category-deep one-pagers that save the founder 40 hours a quarter. Produced once, then handed back as a template your team reuses.
Strategy implementation sprints
6–12 week sprints that convert a strategy document into shipped milestones: hiring decisions made, budgets set, the first three pilots launched. Partner-led, priced as a fixed-fee engagement per sprint.
How we work

Four phases. One partner throughout.

Strategic work runs on a rhythm we've sequenced across hundreds of engagements. Every phase produces an artefact your team can use immediately — nothing waits for the end of the engagement to become useful.

  1. 01Phase

    Brief

A 30-minute scoping call. We surface the decisions that actually need to be made and frame the questions behind them. You get a one-page written brief within 24 hours.

  2. 02Phase

    Scope

A written plan within 72 hours: deliverables, assumptions, interviews, data sources, fixed fee. We decline the engagement if we can't add a clear margin over an internal team doing the same work.

  3. 03Phase

    Engage

Weekly partner-led rhythm. Every Friday a working artefact — draft model, option scorecard, interview synthesis — not a mystery pitch at the end. Any internal team member can join the rhythm.

  4. 04Phase

    Transfer

Handover week. Your CFO owns the model, your comms team owns the narrative, your strategy lead owns the roadmap. 30- and 90-day check-in calls at no charge.

Who this is for

Three buyer archetypes we serve best.

The scaling Indian agribusiness

Founder-led or second-generation firms — typically ₹100 Cr to ₹2,000 Cr revenue — where the question is which geography, which channel, which capability to build first. We bring pattern recognition from 28+ years of seeing similar firms cross similar thresholds.

The multinational entering India

European, US, or APAC agri firms standing up a subsidiary, a JV, or a distributor footprint. The strategy is not abstract — it's entity structure, first-hire plan, first-channel plan, regulatory roadmap. We run this with our Market Entry India practice when a full corridor build is in scope.

The agri investor

PE / VC funds, family offices, and strategics evaluating theses in mechanization, inputs, food, cold chain, or agritech. We write the commercial thesis behind the check — and we tell you honestly when the market case doesn't hold.

What we don’t do

Three things you won’t get from us.

  • Generic strategy frameworks. If the work ends with a SWOT, a Porter’s Five, and a BCG matrix, you’ve paid for a business-school assignment. We use these tools when they help; we never ship them as deliverables.
  • Syndicated market reports. We do primary research; we don’t rebrand syndicated reports. If a syndicated source answers the question, we’ll point you at it and decline to bill.
  • Multi-year open-ended retainers. Retainers bend consulting economics the wrong way. Our engagements are fixed-scope. If you want ongoing advisory, it comes as a named partnership with a quarterly brief.

Frequently asked

Clear answers before the call.

Our partners lead engagements personally, come from agri-operating seats rather than MBA-only pipelines, and price against deliverables, not hours. You'll get an operator's judgment call on trade-offs rather than a decision tree.
