Agri consulting for animal husbandry & dairy in India.
Dairy, poultry, aquaculture, feed, and veterinary — India's largest-by-volume agri segments, served by partners who have run the operating P&Ls.
The sector today.
India is the single largest milk-producing nation in the world, with 2025 production at roughly 247 million tonnes — approximately 23% of global output. Dairy alone contributes close to 5% of the national economy and supports more than 8 crore farmers — a scale of dependency that structures every commercial decision in the sector. The cooperative rail built around NDDB, state federations, and milk unions remains dominant; the private layer compounds alongside it through value-added dairy products, branded retail, and premium processing.
Poultry is a separate growth story. The Indian poultry market is tracked around ₹2,636 billion in 2025 with a CAGR close to 13.8% projected to 2034. By 2025, India was producing roughly 5.6 million tonnes of poultry meat and 153.5 billion eggs annually. Andhra Pradesh leads production — ~27 billion eggs and 0.62 million tonnes of meat. Broiler and layer economics diverge sharply; feed conversion, biosecurity, and processor integration are the three levers that separate compounding operators from exposed ones.
Fisheries and aquaculture have transformed under PMMSY. Annual fish production rose 38% from 141.64 lakh tonnes in FY20 to roughly 195 lakh tonnes in FY25. Average aquaculture productivity climbed from 3 t/ha to 4.7 t/ha. As of early 2026, PMMSY had approved 23,285 hectares of pond area, 52,058 reservoir cages, 27,189 fish transport units, 634 value-added enterprises (ice plants, cold storages), and 6,896 retail markets. The consulting shape here is dominated by species selection, farm design, feed economics, and the move into value-added processing.

Six patterns across dairy, poultry, and aquaculture.
- Milk-procurement network design
- Village-level MCC design, quality-at-collection, cold-chain to processor, and the economics that keep farmer, MCC operator, and processor all aligned.
- Dairy-plant TEV + capex
- Bank-format TEV for new processing plants, capacity design against commodity cycles, and PMKSY-linked grant orchestration where applicable.
- Poultry integration — hatchery to processor
- Vertical-integration design across hatchery, broiler / layer farm, feed mill, and processor. Biosecurity, FCR, and channel economics in a single P&L.
- Aquaculture species + system selection
- Shrimp, fresh-water, marine — each with different capex, feed, and export profiles. PMMSY grant-eligibility mapping and IRR stress-testing.
- Feed-mill design and FCO compliance
- Species-specific formulation, raw-material sourcing resilience, FCO / BIS compliance, and manufacturing-scale-up roadmap.
- Veterinary-product commercialisation
- CDSCO licensing, field-extension teams, and channel design for animal pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and supplements.

Clear answers before the call.
- NDDB-anchored programmes — Rashtriya Gokul Mission for cattle genetics, NPDD for infrastructure, DEDS for entrepreneurship — shape the cooperative and private dairy ecosystem together. Private ventures typically overlap with NDDB on milk-union relationships, genetic inputs, and infrastructure grants rather than competing outright. We help map that overlap so the private operating model compounds with, not against, the cooperative rail.
- Very real. India’s fish production grew from 141.64 lakh tonnes in FY20 to roughly 195 lakh tonnes in FY25 — a 38% rise credited largely to PMMSY. Aquaculture productivity jumped from 3 tonnes per hectare to 4.7 t/ha in the same window. As of early 2026, approved PMMSY activities included over 23,000 ha of inland pond area, 52,000+ reservoir cages, and 6,896 fish retail markets. The consulting opportunities sit at species-specific farm design, feed economics, and the value-added processing layer.
- The Indian poultry market is tracked around ₹2,636 Bn in 2025, projected to compound at roughly 13.8% to 2034. Andhra Pradesh remains the production leader — generating 27.37 billion eggs and 0.62 million tonnes of meat annually. Broiler and layer economics diverge sharply from each other; hatchery-to-processor integration is the highest-leverage engagement type, followed by feed-mill design and veterinary-product commercialisation.
- Yes — both are recurring engagement types. Bank-format TEVs for dairy processing plants (capacity, technology, cold-chain, milk-procurement catchment, scenarios against dairy-commodity cycles) and hatcheries (biosecurity, breed selection, processor offtake). PSU banks typically require TEVs for agri-infrastructure loans above ₹10 crore.
